How to join our Board of Directors

Terry Reilly Health Services is a community health center, funded in part by the Bureau of Primary Health Care.  As such, we are required to have a Board of Directors comprised of no less than 51% consumers of our medical services.  We are further required to have consumers who represent the special populations served by our organization – homeless and Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers.   Additionally, we are not allowed to have more than 50% of our non-consumer Board Members earning more than 10% of their income from the healthcare industry.

Our Board of Directors Nominating Committee meets on a routine basis to consider current or potential vacancies and the requirements (mentioned above) related to that vacancy.  Then our Nominating Committee works to target an individual that meets those specific requirements.    If it is an unrestricted position – the committee evaluates the skills possessed vs. the skills needed on the board and recruits someone that can fulfill the requisite skills.

Persons interested in serving on the board can submit their name for inclusion on the Nominating Committee’s candidate list through our administrative secretary Bobbie Gamel using the contact form here.  The name will be kept on a list of potential candidates that is then reviewed by the nominating committee on an as needed basis.  If and when the committee wants to recruit an individual from that list, a board member will contact the candidate to determine interest at that time.
