The Zero Pay Fund was established in early 2003 by the Terry Reilly Board of Directors to benefit the "poorest of the poor." This fund was a long-time dream of former Medical Director Dr. Bob LeBow. His patients told him regularly of having to choose between buying their medications and putting food on the table. The Board recognized that even the discounted fees offered by Terry Reilly could be overwhelming to some of our most vulnerable patients and could keep them from seeking needed care. Reflecting on two of TRHS' Core Values - "accessibility" and "excellent care that is affordable," the Board of Directors established the Zero Pay Fund on February 1, 2003.
The Zero Pay Fund was initially established with proceeds from Dr. LeBow's Book - Health Care Meltdown. Continuing support is made possible by proceeds of the annuyal Bob LeBow Bike Tour - Healthcare For All, private donations made throughout the year, and continuing proceeds from sales of Health Care Meltdown.
To support the continuing work of Zero Pay Fund and keep Dr. Bob's dream alive, donate by mail or fax or on-line.
Steve could not remember his last good day. He had lost his job because of an injury. Steve's wife Jill had recently undergone back surgery and as a result was unable to work. Steve and Jill were now losing their home; they had worked so hard making payments for all those years....
Steve and Jill had just become responsible for the care of four grandchildren and were unsure how long that might last. Steve confesses he and Jill’s medical problems made it difficult to care for themselves, let alone their grandchildren.
The list of Steve’s and Jill’s medical problems was long. Steve's voice was low as he told the TRHS social worker how neither he nor his wife could afford needed medical attention right now.
Steve was applying for Social Security Disability; his wife was waiting to see if she was able to return to work after healing from her recent back surgery.
Thanks to the Zero Pay Fund, Terry Reilly was able to provide assistance to both Steve and Jill, which has allowed the couple to access needed medical and mental health care. Through this and other supportive Terry Reilly services, this couple is now able to smile and feel like there is stable ground beneath their feet
