SANE Overview
Welcome to the SANE Solutions!

We appreciate your time, interest, and willingness to learn about child sexual abuse and domestic violence. We hope you will find information here to help you in your quest for knowledge and to share with you our efforts to address the needs of families within our community.

Mission Statement

The SANE SOLUTIONS Program is a community based treatment program dedicated to assessing and healing the trauma experienced by victims of physical and sexual abuse and their families, while providing offender treatment to prevent further offenses. Priority is also given to the proactive education of the public to more effectively prevent the occurrence of child sexual abuse within our community.

History

The SANE SOLUTIONS Program or “SANE” was established in Nampa in 1983 in response to the increased awareness of the prevalence and seriousness of sexual abuse within our community. In 1985, the SANE Program established an office in Boise, with the support of the United Way of Ada County, to respond to the demand for specialized sexual abuse evaluations and treatment. In 1988, the SANE SOLUTIONS Program was identified as a “model” sexual abuse treatment program in Idaho by the Governor’s Task Force on Children at Risk. In 1992, the SANE SOLUTIONS Program juvenile sex offender treatment program was identified as “one of the promising in the nation” by the Federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. In 1994, the SANE SOLUTIONS Program launched a model treatment program, the Family Violence Prevention Program, for domestic batterers and violent offenders in Canyon County. This program soon spread to Ada County.

Treatment Philosophy

Consistent with our mission, the SANE SOLUTIONS Program is based upon a victim oriented “restitution” treatment model, with all services having the primary goal of repairing the trauma that child abuse has caused for the victim, family and community. The SANE SOLUTIONS Program strives to provide services for everyone impacted by child sexual abuse. The SANE SOLUTIONS Program maintains separate locations of treatment for victims, families and offenders.
