Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect from the application process?

Applications are due the first Friday in January. Applicants are reviewed January to February, and invitations to interview are scheduled throughout February.

When does residency start, and when are residents expected to be licensed?

Residency starts in the last week of June. Per our program policy, residents are expected to be licensed within 120 days from the hire date.

What is the Teaching Certificate?

Through a partnership with Idaho State University (ISU) College of Pharmacy, our program provides a teaching certificate. This certificate can be obtained by participating in diverse teaching methods offered at both Terry Reilly and ISU throughout the year. Residents will be expected to engage in presenting and collaborating with both large and small groups to create a range of educational experiences.

What does a typical week for a resident look like?

Depending on the rotation, the resident can expect to work alongside their preceptor and other clinic providers and staff within “pods” or within the clinic pharmacy. Day to day activities within any given week will be determined by the preceptor for a given rotation. Residents can also be expected to work a shift at a TRHS pharmacy, depending on need. These shifts, if assigned, will always be on a weekday.

What disease states are managed as part of the disease state management rotation?

Residents can expect to manage an array of chronic disease states, including diabetes, anticoagulation, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and others as part of a collaborative practice agreement. The rotation itself encompasses many aspects of personalized patient care, including patient education, meticulous monitoring, and therapeutic optimization.
